ABOUT THE HALAU /HULA SCHOOL/

We are the students of Halau Ha'a Kea O Kinohi, under the direction of Paul K. Neves, of Hilo, Hawaii, and we invite you to join us during our weekly classes held conveniently in San Francisco's Financial District.
Dancers and musicians of all experience levels are welcome! Classes are open to all women and men, ages 18 and older.
Our teachings focus on hula as the embodiment of Hawaiian culture.
There are also many opportunities to learn other aspects of Hawaiian culture such as ukulele, lei making, language, and history.

Halau Ha’a Kea o Kinohi is the second expression of the teachings of Kumu Paul Neves. Our students are international. The shool is in Hilo /Hawaii/, San Francisco /Cailifornia, USA/ & Kyoto /Japan/.

Kinohi means a new beginning and also is the name of the son of Kumu Paul Neves. This halau is named in his honor.

Halau colors are Red (the color of the lehua blossom and the working chiefs of the land), Black to enhance the red and encompasses all colors (meaning the halau welcomes all), and White for the purity of our hearts and intentions as we embark on this experience with one another.
In the logo, the bridge represents the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA and connects to the red lehua blossoms of Hawai’i island. Together they symbolize the travel taken to bring our haumana (students) together from Hawaii’ and San Francisco.
